Brightening homes with whimsical nature inspired ceramics
Inspired by the spirit of adventure, and holidays driving through winding mountain passes. From the snow covered alps to the highlands, the lake district, the brecon beacons, snowdonia, Iceland and Japan to the Andes - some of my favourite trips. Mountains are the very symbol of adventure.
This mug has a 3 glaze combination which somehow blends to give snowy caps, with notes of glassy forest green with a rugged tarnished brown, the colours of a snowy moutainscape.
I want to see mountains again Gandalf… mountains!
Ammonite / Nautilus spiral mug in a deep black anthracite glaze.
Once upon a time I was an archaeologist, but that’s all in the past now… But I’ve always found it incredible how many relics and fossilised remains there are all around us. Springing out of the ground and dropping from cliff sides.
Of all the fossils none can be more iconic than the perfect geometry of the compartments of an ammonite shell. Inspired by this fibonacci spiral and the echoes of an ancient world, I wanted to etch this pattern into pieces. A celebration of stone, and fossils, and things more ancient than we can fathom.
Fern mug in a tarnished green glaze.
Inspired by rainy walks through the woods with the sound of raindrops hitting leaves, childhood holidays cycling through centreparks, the sense of wonder when exploring mossy woodlands. The fern leaf is one of nature’s finest examples of the golden ratio / the fibonacci spiral, a wonderful example of the beautiful geometry of nature.
