About Me
Hi, I’m Harry a potter from Oxfordshire! After 2 years of potting around, and learning to throw on the wheel I’ve finally taken the plunge and decided to put myself out there and to start selling pieces at markets and online (watch this space!)
The Hairy Potter
I’m a member of community pottery studio Sabali Pots in Didcot. During the day I work as an Events Manager for a brewery in and around Oxford, and I call Wantage my home with my partner and our 3 legged cat.
My work is primarily hand-thrown stoneware pieces, often inspired by nature and landscapes. Rugged mountains, rain drenched forests, stone formations and ancient fossils of the south coast, medieval ruins. Mainly mugs, vases, bowls, whatever takes my fancy. At the moment my focus is functional homeware, with some sculptural and decorative bits on the way in the near future!
Why the name? I go by the Hairy Potter for a few reasons, primarily I’m a bit on the hairy side. But also because my name is Harry - and as a potter it’s difficult to go by my name without infringing on some major copyright. (you’re a ceramicist Harry… I’m a whaaaaat?)
